Do you love sci-fy but have a friend that just can’t get into it? I have the book for you. We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson has an underlying sci-fi plot masked as a contemporary story. For the fans of heartbreak…

I read History Is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera at the beginning of 2017, and I still think about the characters daily. The story literally opens up with Griffin attending the funeral of his ex-boyfriend and love of his life, Theo. Except, Theo had a new boyfriend when he died, Jackson. Together, Jackson and Griffin mourn over the death of Theo, and realize they knew two different Theos.

For the paranormal obsessed…

Half Bad is not your typical YA paranormal romance. Instead, it has cut-throat, ruthless witches, and a story about survival. In a world, where witches rule the government and society, Nathan is in a bad spot. He’s the son of the most notorious witch in history, and the government is interested in keeping him as immobile as possible. He has other plans.

This series focuses on four teenagers: Cleo, Magnus, Jonas, and Lucia. Each in different kingdoms on the same continent, the four are caught in power plays and magical fights as the world around them crumbles. One of my top fantasy series!

Daughter of the Burning City was one of my most favorite reads of 2016, and the book I was most surprised about. Amanda Foody writes the tale of Sorina, who has created her entire family through her illusions. Her whole family are part of a moving carnival, and things start going south when her illusions start getting murdered, which should be impossible.
